At the 2007 Recreational Ski Review the skis were evaluated for performance as well as what level of skier would best fit each ski. The skier skill levels were broken up as follows: Beginner, Beginner/Intermediate, Intermediate, Advanced and Tournament. As with all sporting equipment these skis each have specific strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the highest performing among them would be the worst for a first time skier and the best beginner ski in the group may yield the lowest score if taken to the slalom course. Each ski was ridden by novice skiers as well as advanced tournament competitors. The skis were tested not for absolute performance but for how they performed for less experienced skiers. Some of the skis performed so well that they blurred the line between recreational and tournament skis, while others are clearly designed others help the beginner get around the lake with ease. The test weekend was made possible by Horton Lakes School, Malibu Boats, Darren Wiley of Wiley’s Ski Shop, Seth & Tadd of H2osmosis, Kristy Kelly of JetPilot and Chris Veit of Oakley.
Special thanks to Tony and Chris for helping make it all happen.
